Frequently Asked Questions

What are the different types of boats available?

Catamarans are open-plan sailing vessels designed for summer cruising because they have more outdoor space than other boats and large sunbathing nets to soak up the sun. They are perfect for swimming charters but can also be used in Winter because they have fold-down plastic walls if you need them, a small indoor cabin, and they are sheltered at the rear end. Catamarans don’t have bars onboard so you need to bring your own drinks. They are also generally the cheapest option available.

Cruisers are the most versatile party boats with indoor and outdoor space so they are great for any time of the year. They normally have dancefloor space and licensed bars onboard too. They are the mid-range budget option also.

Yachts offer a premium experience because they have well-appointed furnishings, lounge areas and they look super stylish! Most have bars and kitchens onboard too. They are all-rounders so you simply can’t go wrong. Looking for luxury and got a little more coin to spend? Get a yacht!

Large Function Boats are designed to accommodate big groups for Birthdays and Christmas Parties. With plenty of wide open space, furniture, dance floors and a range of catering options they are floating venues. Why party on land when you can do it with the views a party boat offers!

Where do the boats depart from?

The main wharf location is Mariners Cove Marina next to Sea World.

However please refer to the boat profiles to see which wharf is applicable to each vessel.

Where do the boats travel to?

The city of Southport encompasses the Gold Coast CBD. Surrounding this on one side are the long sandy beaches of Surfers Paradise and on the other side are the expansive canals of the Broadwater. Stretching from the luxury homes in ‘Millionaire’s Row’ all the way up to the shores of South Stradebroke Island past Sea World and the man-made Wake Break Island, your journey takes in all the sights of this little piece of Aussie paradise.

What are the catering options?

Every vessel has its own unique catering menu. Please see the boat profiles for the food and beverage options.

There are typically 3 types of food menus: (1) BBQ Menu, (2) Canape/Platter Menu and (3) Buffet/Banquet Menu.

Some boats have bars onboard so they can provide drink packages and some require you to bring your own.

Please refer to our catering page for a description of what each option means.

What are the facilities onboard?

Catamarans all offer swimming ladders, cruisers and function boats have dance floor space and yachts have a bit of everything.

You can search the facilities available above, and please always see the boat profiles for a list of facilities included on each vessel.

Every boat has a sound system onboard and the ability for you to play your own tracks.

Please also see our facilities page for a description of what each option means.

What entertainment can we have?

As your entertainment hub, Get Loose has everything you need. Please note some boats can’t accommodate some style fo entertainment so you can refer to the boat profiles for your options.

What if it rains?

In the case of any bad weather the charter will still proceed but the water is a little choppy the skipper will work around it. You can check the weather forecast here. Only if the skipper declares the water is too dangerous will the cruise be rescheduled. Thankfully in the Gold Coast the water is shallow and safe so it’s rare to to be affected unless there is a big tropical storm.

Is there a shoe policy?

Catamarans and Yachts might ask you to removes your shoes or wear white non-marking shoes. High heels are not welcome either. Wedge shoes are generally ok where shoes are permitted.

Cruisers are sturdier party boats so typically no rules apply.

Want some inspiration on what to wear? Read here.

How do we book a boat?

Ready to get onboard with us? We’ll send you a booking form and a bit of time to pay a deposit to lock in the boat. The balance is due the week before the event so you have time to confirm the number of people attending and make any changes to your package. Then we’ll send you an itinerary the week of your charter with an updated summary of your cruise. On the day of your cruise just up 10 minutes early for pick-up. We look forward to hosting you on one of our Gold Coast party boats soon!

Where else can we visit on our stay in the Gold Coast?

As we find that many of our boat party clients travel to the Gold Coast from other parts of the country, some of our recommended places to visit include the Pacific Fair for shopping, Movie World and Dreamworld for fun, the Surfers Paradise Beer Garden for a quality pub feed with a birds eye view of the famous Cavill Avenue, and Broadbeach for its fine restaurants.
